ACC Financing the Economy 2026: private credit AUM at US$4.1tn; AI named a major investment theme and an underwriting risk

The ACC's twelfth Financing the Economy report, based on survey data from 41 private credit managers reporting about US$2.4 trillion of private credit capital plus 15 interviews, puts global private credit AUM at US$4.1 trillion at end-2025, up 17% for a second year. It says AI has become a major investment theme, with private credit a key source of AI infrastructure funding, and that lenders are building the potential impact of AI-driven disruption into underwriting due diligence. Interviewees said investors frequently ask how AI is integrated into their investment process. The report also finds 41% of flagship corporate lending funds operate without investment leverage.

Why it matters for deal teams: LPs are now asking managers how AI is used in the investment process, so a documented, reviewable AI workflow is becoming part of the fundraising and due diligence conversation.
